About Kappa Iota
Kappa Iota Chapter was founded in Chattanooga, TN, during the fall of 1945, with its founding members including Brother William J. Davenport, Brother Thirkield E. Cravens, Sr., Brother T. R. Gaston, Brother T. D. Upshaw, Brother B. W. Harrington, Brother Dr. J. 0. Young, Brother Marvin Harris, Brother Bernard E. Burke, Sr., and Brother T. E. Rhue.

The inaugural leadership team, designated by the founding members, comprised Brother William J. Davenport as the Basileus, Brother T. D. Upshaw as the Vice Basileus, Brother Thirkield E. Cravens, Sr. as the Keeper of Finance, and Brother B. W. Harrington as the Keeper of Peace.
​
Guided by Brother Z. Alexander Looby of Nashville, Tennessee, who served as the District Representative, Kappa Iota Chapter was integrated into Omega Psi Phi's 5th District during this period.
